What is the top criteria to consider after purchase a phone? Top priority is always the quality of the phone itself. I would say second criteria is the after-sale service offered by smartphone manufacturers. After-sale service may mostly probably mean how the seller response to buyer after the deal which include the software upgrade for smartphone.
You will hard to see mobile operating system upgrade for certain smartphone model or particular smartphone manufacturers or carriers but not going to happen on Samsung, In fact, I am grad to be the owner of Galaxy Note & Galaxy S3 as I am satisfied with the frequent software update from Samsung. Without purchasing the Galaxy Note 2, I can easily enjoy the same features by upgrading the phone software to latest Jelly Bean version.
Back to the topic, according to SamMobile, there is a pre-list leaked which suggest the upcoming Android updates from Samsung. It is applied for latest flagship such Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 8 as well as to the old phone (Galaxy Note, Galaxy S2).
According to the pre-list, Galaxy Note and Galaxy S2 will receive the last update to Android 4.2.2 whereby no official OTA update will be released on these devices. Nevertheless, we shall always see hope from 3rd party Android developers especially from XDA.
In other hand, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2 and 3 more devices will be upgrade to Android 5.0, which is not yet announced by Google. The devices to receive Android 5.0 update are Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note, and Note 10.1.
