Can You Believe Your Eye? Windows Phone 8 Successfully Ported on Legendary HTC HD2

The core person of the famous developments team DFT – Cotulla has shared the pictures of HTC HD2 running latest Windows Phone 8 in his Twitter and DFT forums today. I believe that this news will surely rock the world of smartphone development. There are rumors origin from XDA development forums revealing that Windows Phone 8 will be supported on older Windows Phone devices. But with the success port of WP8 on HD2, the rumor is diminished without any official clarification.

Cotulla leave a message in his Twitter account using Base64 code. After decoding, it shows the message as below:

MAGLDR UEFI is used for boot

Oh, F1n@lly.

Not RTM yet

A lot of problems there still….

It can be seen from the DFT homemade bootloader that MAGLDR has supported UEFI used by WP8, relying on the powerful compatibility of NT kernel which made it successfully boot up.

The current situation of HD2 is only can start system, phone, camera and Bluetooth while a large number of features are still not working properly. It should be the result of the non-compatibility of driver. WP8 use the standard NT driver which is the same as the PC but WP7 using CE-driven that is completely different.
