Actually, I am quite surprise that Samsung Galaxy S3 did not come along with profile option where you are subjected to flight or driving mode only. If you are wondering the meaning of profile, i believe you will still remember the old fashion phone that allow you to switch from normal mode to silent, meeting, flight or other by simply hold the power buttons to choose the desired profile. As for new smartphone model like Samsung Galaxy S3, it just being reduced to two mode which are mentioned above. It may not affect some of us but definitely for those who used to switch between profile frequently must miss this feature. With an additional app installed, you can still perform the profile interchange and also add in your customized profile to the list. Profile Scheduler is the one I meant.
There are 5 default profiles are available: Normal, Meeting, Silent, Night and Outdoor. I bet you must be familiar with the feature integrated with the particular profiles. With profile schedulers, you can actually set new profile with all desired settings.
For example:
Car profile with GPS, Bluetooth on, Wifi off, screen never timeout.
Power Saver profile with Mobile data, Wifi, GPS and Bluetooth off, low brightness, short screen timeout, auto-sync off.
You can also set up new profile for special event like watching movie in cinema. The common profile settings could be customized such as:
Volume for ringtone, notification, alarm, media, voice and system
- Vibrate for incoming call and notification
- Phone Ringtone
- Notification Ringtone
- Airplane mode
- Mobile Data
- Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth
- GPS (May not work on some phones due to Google blocking it)
- Speaker Mode
- Haptic Feedback
- Audible touch tone
- Brightness – Automatic, Default or Custom
- Screen timeout – 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, Never
- Auto-sync
- Wallpaper from Gallery or File Manager.
- Launch application
- Support ‘Volume Locker’
